Flatpicking Tunes by Ear

Instructor: Dave Lidstone

Date: To be determined. Please contact Dave Lidstone

Time: TBD

Price: $125.00, early bird discount is available*

Guitar players such as Doc Watson and Smiley Bates were among the pioneers of a tradition of playing tunes usually meant for fiddles or pipes on a guitar with a flatpick.  Fiddlers have a long tradition of passing on tunes by ear.  This class will embrace those two traditions.  Each night we’ll learn a tune by ear–no tab or notation.  For  preparation prior to a class  I’ll distribute MP3s of a tune and then at class we’ll focus on playing it.  Not too fast but also not absolute beginning. This will be a continuation previous classes so we’ll start by reviewing some already established tunes.

The schedule will be determined by the availability of participants–please contact Dave at davelidstone@shaw.ca
